Wilardy Originals was a high-end New York City company that kept fancy ladies on the edge of modern design with lucite purses in every form and color imaginable. Rarely do their designs feature animals, so we were beyond thrilled to find this fantastic turtle bag. The teardrop shape and scalloped edge give it a timeless elegance, and the silky braided chain brings a sense of luxury. And those little turtles are really damn cute.

Vintage plastic and metal. Marked Wilardy (1946-79). Purse body measures 7.5" long, 4" tall and 2-2.5" deep front to back; 13" chain drop. Some nice auntie or granny kept this baby in excellent condition!
Whether turtles live on land or out at sea, they all make nests on earthy surfaces. A sea turtle will swim thousands of miles back home every year to lay eggs on the very beach where she was born.
