A pair of silver peacocks admire one another over a vase of trailing roses. This bag is positively exquisite, with swirled fringe and an etched frame topped with deep blue glass gems. Lined in a rich luxurious velvet. Beaded bags like this were typically lined in thin fabrics, so we believe this to be a newer lining.
Vintage to antique. Features a small slip pocket. Measures 11" frame to fringe. Bag body is 8" long, 6" wide. Fits a cell phone. Chain drop just under 6 inches. Near-perfect condition with one missing bead at the frame and a very small imperfect spot on the lining. Absolutely gorgeous!
Three peafowl species exist, only one of which ever appears in white: the Indian Peafowl, Pavo cristatus. The full or partial lack of color is due to a genetic mutation called leucism, a recessive trait that appears more often in captive populations.
