Leopards, Panthera pardus, frequently appear in ancient Greek and Roman art as well as Egyptian. But there are no wild leopards in Europe, right? Today, no. But thousands of years ago, big cats had a much larger range. Hunting and human expansion squeezed both leopards and lions out of Europe and today they live only in Africa and small parts of Asia.
