The bloodiest red snake in nature is known as the Blood Red Cornsnake or Red Rat Snake (Pantherophis guttatus). Thanks to iNaturalist.org for sharing that the name of "corn snake" comes from corn farmers of old. They stored the harvest in wooden buildings, vulnerable to rodents who snuck in to eat the corn...and the snakes followed the rodents who they would squeeze to death and consume, thereby eating the corn as well!
