Someone sold this seashell by the seashore decades ago. Shell trinket boxes and coin purses have been popular souvenirs since Victorian times (although we believe this one is a little younger). They're typically flat smooth shells rather than this unusual segmented conch. A special find.
Natural shell sealed with resin; brass rim and clasp. Unfinished interior with two segments. Approximate measurements: 2" tall and wide. No chips or cracks.
We haven't quite identified the species that would have inhabited this shell but we believe it's in the Strombidae family.
