These exquisite glass earrings bring to mind the legendary sky-blue Himalayan poppy. Open celled translucent enamel (a fine art called plique-a-jour) creates bright sun catchers. Show these babies off with an updo.
Vintage, unmarked post earrings with nut backs. Approximate measurements: just under 1.5" at the widest point, and just under 3" long; 2.75" from post to bottom edge. As expected with age, there are thin hairline cracks in the glass. One tiny missing segment in the top area of one earring (see last photo). These are extremely delicate, to be handled and worn with care.
A legend among gardeners, flowers of the Himalayan Blue Poppy (Meconopsis) present one of the truest blues in the botanical world. They boast a reputation of being difficult to grow successfully - a fair trait, given their natural habitat high in the Himalayas.
