They designed several styles of jaguar-adorned black leather bags for Bonwit Teller in 1969. This dainty angular version is sleek, sexy and extremelyhard to find. Excellent condition with little to no exterior wear and minor discoloration inside, primarily at hinges.
When this bag hit the shelves, Jaguar, Panthera onca, was hunted for its beautiful coat – as many as 18,000 cats were killed per year! But in 1973 the emerging Endangered Species Act and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) put a damper on jaguar kills. While jaguars still face hunting threats today, the species is not currently listed as endangered.
