We love a natural style that celebrates asymmetry and biological forms. Someone fished out these iridescent beauties from deep waters in the Gulf of Mexico -presumably ate the snails inside- and attached the gorgeous shells onto clips. Identical in shape but slightly different in size, these earrings make a vintage wabi-sabi statement. They're incredibly light, deliciously delicate, and totally one-of-a-kind.
Natural shell on smooth metal. Unmarked, estimated 1950-70's. Smaller earring approximately .75" wide; larger approx. 1" wide. Age marks in the form of surface cracks and chipped edges (highlighted in last photo) - best worn with larger earring on the left ear and smaller on right.
Top shells are identified by their whirly cone-shape and pearlescent interior. Rarely do they they shimmer on the outside like these Gaza shells from the Margaritidae family of deep sea snails.
