Modeled after lion earrings from the 5th Century BCE found in the royal tombs of Cyprus, from a time and place where men and women adorned themselves with statement jewelry. Lions like these appeared at the tip of a curled large gold post, somewhat like a long horn. At that time, lobe piercings were much larger than today's typical pin sized hole.
