Cobra Goddess Ring

Regular price $65.00 Sale

With a rearing cobra (called a Uraeus) at her crown, this figure either represents Egyptian royalty or the goddess Wadjet whose sacred animal was the cobra. A lotus flower below her symbolizes creativity and rebirth. Formed in the style of a hieroglyphic cartouche, this ring most likely originated as a souvenir from Egypt.

Vintage silver. Marked with the Egyptian symbol for silver, estimated 1970's. Size 7-8. When we acquired this ring, it was severely misshapen. After a repair she's back in good condition!

One of the most dangerous snakes on Earth, with venom that can take down an elephant, the Egyptian cobra (Naja haje) is believed to have been an inspiration for Wadjet's power animal.
