Dramatic lions roar at one another across your face. Add the necklace (also wearable as a brooch) and you're protected by all the males in the pride. Finely detailed snarling faces and curling manes are the design work of an ancient master, circa 550–331 BCE. Made by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, these reproduction pieces were modeled after a Persian royal lion adornment in their antiquities collection. Bold and ballsy, these regal fellows will make you feel like the timeless queen you are.

Vintage gold plated metal (slightly different tone on earrings vs pendant). Earrings on clip. Pin with safety clasp and pendant loop. Marked MMA; brooch/pendant is stamped with the year 1991. The Met, and the MFA in Boston, made these pieces for decades using varying materials, hence the difference in finish. Earrings 1" nose to mane. Brooch 2" nose to mane. Excellent condition.

Lions once dominated the wilds and inspired royalty throughout the Middle East and parts of Asia. The species took a nosedive in the 19th Century and today just a few hundred Asiatic Lions (Panthera leo persica), remain in the Gir Forest of India.
