Metal and crystals with a magnetic closure. (Note: if you wear a pacemaker please consult your doctor before wearing this piece, as the magnetic clasp sits at the chest.) The magnet on this piece holds for everyday movement and slow, slinky dancing but if you need a disco snake check out the Black Mamba or the Silver Articulated Serpent Choker.
Hard-to-find style made by Butler & Wilson (this is pre-loved but not necessarily vintage). Measures 24" long, tongue to tail. Head 1.5" wide. Necklace wears at approximately 17-18" long with a 3.5" drape of the tail. Very good condition with two minor flaws: the body is slightly compressed at the back, which may be from wear/storage or from manufacturing. Crowning crystal has one scratch which is difficult to see in all the sparkling facets.
The family Viperidae includes adders, rattlesnakes, green vipers, horned vipers and the most fearsome Gaboon Viper. They all have gorgeous large heads with a somewhat diamond shape. There is a misconception that all snakes with diamond shaped heads are venomous. While many vipers and other venomous serpents do have such a head shape - beware! Not all diamond-headed snakes are venomous, and not all venomous snakes have diamond-shaped heads!
Feather & Foxglove shares a portion of sales to support environmental conservation and animal welfare - even venomous snakes.
